Does Lexapro make a person feel emotionally numb?

All anti-depressants have the potential to cause anhedonia (an inability to experience pleasure from normally pleasurable life events such as eating, exercise, and social/sexual interactions), and it may mean that your medication needs to be changed if you had been feeling better and then began having these types of symptoms. Anhedonia is also a symptom of depression itself. It may take as long as 4 to 6 weeks to see any difference in your depression after starting your medication, and if you have not been on it for long, you may need to give it a chance to work. If these feelings are new and are troubling you - particularly if you are having suicidal thoughts - I would recommend talking to your doctor.
