What color is butterfly?

Butterfly eggs come in different colors and shapes. I have seen yellow, green and black. The tiny green ones laid in clusters are most likely painted ladies. The greenish white ones laid singly on the milkweed are monarchs. I think the black ones are question marks but I am not exactly sure.
