In British Isles we ate:

Porridge Dried egg scrambled eggs

Overcooked cabbage Marrow jam

Past sell by eggs Bread & margarine with salt & pepper

Cooked dried peas with ham bone Potatoes

Swede turnips Bully beef

Dandelion leaves Bead pudding

Apples blackberries

and infinitesimal amounts of butter, margarine,dripping,meat,cheese,bacon and practically no sweets. I was 7 years old and my teeth lasted until I was in my 70's.
