You may have wired it for too high a speed and are moving too much air for the size ac you have. The rule of thumb is 400 cfm per ton (3 tons = 1200cfm). I realize you have no way of knowing how many cfm you are moving, so check the motor and see how many speeds it is capable of. Then drop the speed at which the motor runs in cooling 1 speed at a time until you are satisfied, be sure the coils and piping are not icing up. If they are you are going too slow. Once you have found the correct cooling speed wire the heating speed for the next slower speed.
