How do you shutdown the iPod Touch?

The iPod Classic does not have a complete shut down option, only a "sleep" mode. This can be done through the menu or by holding the play/pause button down until the screen turns off. An iPod in sleep mode should keep battery life on the order of 3-5 weeks according to the manual.
