What is a synechode?

A synecdoche is a figure of speech in which a part of something is used to represent the whole, or vice versa. For example, saying "all hands on deck" uses "hands" to refer to sailors, highlighting a part (hands) to represent the whole (people). This rhetorical device often adds emphasis and vivid imagery to language, enriching communication by creating connections between concepts.
