Unless you are out of warranty i highly recommend having it done at your local Kia dealer, so you may keep your warranty. KIA is very stingy about that.

WARNING: if you do your timing belt change incorrectly you can seriously damage your engine, and that is far more costly than paying a dealer or a mechanic to fix the timing belt.

with a timing belt kit it should come with a tensioner tool, but even if not, it is not necessarily needed.

you will most certainly need a Reliable torque wrench, and the basic ratchet set that all good shade tree mechanics have.

a flat head and a Philips screw driver.

it is not necessary but a great help to have the tensioner tool.

if you have never done a timing belt change, i Highly Advise you to get a Haynes or a Chilton's manual for your year and model, and follow it step by step (the repair manual is always an invaluable tool)

also when doing a T-Belt change replace the water-pump as well, as it is interconnected with the timing belt, and is better to replace it now then when it brakes down in the next 10 thousand miles or so, consequently doing the timing belt change all over again. in addition just because its a good idea to not have your alternator stop working, i would recommend replacing all of the drive belts which is generally is the A/C, Alternator, and Power Steering belts, and any other accessory belts.

as well as inspect the camshaft and crankshaft seals and replace them if needed though if it were me i would replace them anyways.

even though i am a Huge DIY person i would highly recommend that if you cant determine your crankshaft from your camshaft you need to let some one else do your Timing belt change because if you do it wrong you can destroy your Engine or Damage it Severely
