If coal is formed from the plants remains then why are trees renewable if coal isn't?

Ive asked this question myself. In short, I think it's just that coal takes hundreds of millions years to create where a tree may only take 50 yrs. btw another reason why i dont understand why its called nonrenewable is that ppl call it dead sun as in sun compressed or wateva
