Medically this condition is called as Diuresis, there are many factors which control our urination. The most common of these condition is caused by (i) Diabetes mellitus (ii) Excessive fluid intake (polydipsia) (iii) Diabetes insipidus (iv) Enlarged prostrate (prostritis) in elderly. Osmotic excretion is balanced by kidney which is controlled by Posterior Pituitary which produces Vasopressin and which in presence of Aldosterone produced by adrenal cortex of kidney regulates the urine flow. Apart from these physiological parameters certain chemicals may induce polyuria those are: (i) Caffeine- found in tea, coffee and other beverages and (ii) Excessive alcohol consumption.
