How does a snowy owl live in the northern climate?

Northern spotted owls live in the coastal and near coastal temperate old growth forests of Western North America from British Columbia to Oregon. Few old growth forest stands exist, most are now second growth forests which have have been logged several times over.

Fewer than 12 Northern Spotted Owls remain in the province of British Columbia, Canada; they are concentrated in an area north of Chilliwack Lake in area which is actively logged.
