What types of documentation are used and how do they interrelate in production drawings?

Drawingis the art of creating images in or on a given surface (paper, wood, the ground, etc.) using a specific tool (pen, pencil, knife, your finger, etc.).

One type of drawing is "pencil sketching." This is when someone uses a tool (usually a pencil or charcoal) on paper and creates brief works of art on the paper, creating images either from their imagination, or as reacreations of observed subjects (a tree, a person, an animal, a flower, etc.).

Another type of drawing is "landscape". Here, the artist observs his or her surroundings (outside) and makes a likeness of the landscape on their paper. Landscape drawing can be done with any tool, and on any surface.

There are many types of drawing, but another one is portrait drawing. This is where an artist observs another person, and creates a likeness of the person on their paper. In many instances, just the head is drawn, but in others, often it will be a bust (the head and shoulders), or a full-body portrait. Portraits can be done using any type of tool desired.
