What does the word vintage mean in fashion?

Vintage fashion means clothing or accessories that are at least 20 years old. Clothing over 100 years old is called antique instead of vintage.

It is also used by some companies to describe modern fashions which are in the style of previous decades, and wrongly used to describe modern second-hand or thrifted clothes.
