To successfully plant and grow an avocado tree from seed, follow these steps:
- Remove the seed from a ripe avocado and wash off any remaining fruit.
- Insert toothpicks into the seed to suspend it in a glass of water, with the bottom half submerged.
- Place the glass in a warm, sunny spot and change the water every few days.
- After roots and a stem emerge, plant the seed in a pot with well-draining soil, leaving the top half exposed.
- Water the plant regularly and place it in a sunny location.
- Transplant the tree to a larger pot or outdoors once it outgrows its current container.
- Be patient, as it can take several years for the tree to bear fruit.
