The Chairman of the Board of Directors is the highest held position in a company.
The President is the highest position with direct command authority and usually deals with strategic matters. The CEO, or Chief Executive Officer, is the highest position with direct authority over day-to-day operations.
It is not unusual for the positions of President, Chairman of the Board and CEO to be held by one person.
