In the giver in Jonas community why do you think so much importance is placed on the sharing of feelings and dreams?

The first dream he has is what the Community calls the Stirrings. It is when Jonas thinks that he is in the Bathing Room in the Center for Old, but there is only one bathtub. His friend ,Fiona, is there and he wants her to take off her clothes and get in the tub so he can bathe her. Afterwards, he has to take a Pill so the Stirrings don't return. In the Community, there are supposed to be no feelings.
