Why do people participate in dog fighting?

It's illegal, because it's a serious form of animal abuse. Though, in most cases, more than one act of animal cruelty is made, such as terrible living conditions, no food or water, physical abuse, etc. These acts cause the dogs to become malnourished, aggressive and distrustful of humans and other dogs. Sadly, even when rescued, most fighting-dogs are put to sleep due to their aggression.
