Billie Holidays father fathered two children but with a different mother than Billies. He married a white woman who was a dancer before he passed and it has commonly been believed that they passed themselves off as white. Billies mother married a man named Phillip Gough which Billie mentions in her book "Lady sings the blues" his daughter Kay Kelly always claimed to be Billies half sister even posting bail for her supposedly in a Philadelphia arrest and showing up at her bedside before her death buying night gowns for her "sister" however, as Phillip Gough is not Billies natural father and her mother Sadie Fagan did not bare Kay Kelly basically she is of no relation except thru a marriage that ended in divorce in the 1920s
