In boccia, points are scored by throwing balls closest to a target ball, known as the jack. At the end of each round, the team with the ball closest to the jack earns points, with one point awarded for each ball that is closer than the opponent's closest ball. Matches consist of multiple ends, and the team with the highest score at the end of the game wins. If both teams have balls equidistant from the jack, no points are awarded for that end.
