What is trichimosis?

Trichimosis, also known as trichomycosis, is a skin condition characterized by the overgrowth of bacteria, particularly Corynebacterium species, on hair follicles, often found in areas with abundant hair, such as the armpits and groin. It typically manifests as discolored, foul-smelling hair and can cause discomfort but is generally not serious. Treatment usually involves maintaining good hygiene and, in some cases, topical antibiotics.
