Why these animals are classified as they are?

All living things are classifyed to a specificant group to provide a Dicotomus Key (Animalia, Vertibrates, Mammals, Fungi ect.) This helps us know if we have discovered something new, or if it is already found by asking a series of questions leading to different animals/plants.
