Why was the nile river the taker of life?

The Nile River took life, and also brought life.

It took life because, the floods took away lives and lands.

But, it brought life because if you take a calender and have a good estimate of what time it is going to come you can save everything, or plant rice in the river banks. So, the Nile also produced food, and water.
