The brown recluse spider primarily inhabits the central and southern United States, particularly in states such as Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and parts of the Midwest. It can also be found in some areas of the southeastern U.S. and has been reported in parts of the southern Great Plains. Additionally, it may be present in certain regions of Mexico. The spider prefers warm, dry environments, often dwelling in secluded areas like basements, attics, and woodpiles.
