Meaning of Plum blossom tattoo

Not sure what getting it tattooed means, but the plum blossom means beauty and longevity (i believe)

That might be the meaning of the flower itself; although in east Asia the plum blossom represents perseverance in the face of adversity --> (because the flower blooms in the winter)
