What is any drug that is used to cure prevent or treat illness or discomfort?

Not all drugs cure and most don't. Most drugs developed just treat the symptoms. If pharmaceutical companies produced drugs that cure, their repeat business wouldn't exist, they wouldn't make as much money, therefore one does not see many drugs coming on the market that cure, only treat.
