Black cherry trees (Prunus serotina) are native to eastern North America and typically grow in a variety of habitats, including forests, hillsides, and along streams. They thrive in well-drained soils and prefer full sun to partial shade. These trees are commonly found from southern Quebec and Ontario in Canada down to Florida and as far west as Texas and North Dakota.
