Work through and loosen tangles with your fingers first. Comb through extensions with a wide-tooth comb, being careful not to pull on tangles.

Shampoo human hair extensions with a gentle shampoo and warm water. Work your way from the top of the extensions to the bottom, gently pulling in a smooth motion instead of balling the hair up.

Wash synthetic hair extensions with a mild liquid cleanser and tepid water. Again, use a smoothing motion to work the soap through the extensions without tangling.

Rinse your extensions completely in warm or tepid water. Gently squeeze out excess water, but don't wring the extensions.

Place the extensions on a towel and wrap the towel around them to soak up more water. Lay extensions flat on a dry towel and allow to air dry.

Style your human hair extensions any way you like after you've clipped them on; you can curl them or straighten them with a flat iron. Synthetic hair extensions are already styled and only need to be clipped in.
