How do you release a Pokemon on Pokemon Platinum if they keep coming back after you release them?

If it's coming back, that means it is the only Pokémon you have that knows a certain HM. To release it either make it forget the HM by talking to the Move Deleter in Canalave City, in the house below the Pokémon Center or teach another one of your Pokémon the HM move.
