Scientist believe the first giraffes on earth had shorter legs and shorter neck then giraffes today?

The first known member of the giraffe family, Climacoceros, was a deer like animal. As time went on and the giraffes became browsers (leaf eaters), they evolved longer necks and legs to reach leaves that were too high for other animals. Eventually, all short necked species of the giraffe family, except the okapi, became extinct.
