Are black palm cockatoos going extinct?

Palm cockatoos are endangered, mainly because of habitat loss. They are slow breeders, laying just a single egg each breeding season, so their population is not easily replenished.

A collective breeding program undertaken in Papua New Guinea to help save the Palm Cockatoo has been quite successful.
