Assuming you have both an uncirculated and a circulated example of the same coin or the same bill - that is:
- the dates are the same,
- the denomination is the same,
- other characteristics such as mint mark (coin), series letter and seal color (bill), etc. are identical
the uncirculated one will be worth more than the circulated one simply because it's in its original condition while the circulated item may have been subject to wear.
