What is the social behaviors of smallmouth bass?

Smallmouth bass are generally solitary fish, often found in pairs during the spawning season. They tend to establish territories, particularly males, who guard nests and exhibit aggressive behaviors to protect their young from intruders. Outside of the breeding period, they can be found in loose groups, especially in areas with abundant food sources.
