Can you take the baffles out of the original muffler on a 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 800A and if so how do you do it?

If it's set up like my 2003 800 classic,you can't take out the baffles without removing the black end plate and cutting the pipe just inside the opening. It's not legal,so you might want to buy an aftermarket system instead.
