Another word for sorry

regretful, remorseful, contrite, repentant, rueful, penitent, apologetic, abject, guilty, ashamed, sheepish, shamefaced. Or so says the thesaurus. I wouldn't use any of these if you were saying it to someone, though. Just say "I'm sorry" if that's how you feel. OOPS!
