Swift Transportation Co Inc acquisitions

Hard to find a listing of all of them (I've tried several times). The most famous of their acquisitions was MS Carriers. They also bought out Merit, which was one of the companies previously owned by Wal Mart. Fulton Transport was bought out by them in the early 90s. There was a company by the name of Cardinal (don't remember if it was Cardinal Transportation or Cardinal Logistics) which was bought out by Swift... there are several more, and one would probably have to contact the company directly for a complete listing (see related link).
Central Transportation and Central Refrigerated are not actually owned by Swift - they're owned by Jerry Moyes, founder and CEO of Swift, independently. Central Refrigerated was the company once known as Dick Simon Trucking, which was acquired by Moyes after one of the Dick Simon drivers drove his truck up the steps of the California state capitol.
Interstate Transportation and Blue Thunder also have some connection with Swift, although I can't say entirely what the extent of it is. Around the end of 2004, Swift Transportation sold their autohaul division to Blue Thunder... including the drivers.Aaaand... a bit of an update. Swift bought out all shares of stock in Central Transportation in August of 2013.
