How do you read a passage quickly?

The best way to read something quickly is to concentrate on it. Remove all distractions and focus on the reading. Other tricks include skimming the passage for important Words and reading the phrases around those important Words.

If the passage includes multiple paragraphs, a popular skimming technique is to read the first sentence and last sentence of each paragraph. Since a well-written paragraph includes an introduction sentence to introduce the topic of the paragraph and a conclusion sentence to wrap everything together, it is possible to get a pretty good sense of the meat of the paragraph from these two sections.
