Henry Horner (born November 30, 1878 in Chicago, Illinois; died October 6, 1940 in Winnetka, Illinois) succeeded Louis L. Emmerson as the thirtieth Governor of Illinois, serving between January 9, 1933 and his death. Following the end of Horner's term as Governor, John H. Stelle (bon August 8, 1891 in McLeansboro, Illinois; died July 5, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri) became the twenty-ninth Governor of Illinois, serving between October 6, 1940 and January 13, 1941.
