Yes animals can get sunburnt, on areas that are exposed and free of hair such as the belly, nose and ears. Animals with pink noses are more at risk of sunburn, as a black nose offers some natural protection against the sun's rays. An animal's fur does protect against sunburn - it's like a human covering up and wearing a shirt. If you are worried about one of your animals getting burnt, it is safe to apply zinc paste - the stuff surfers and cricketers smear on their face.
