Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Sisters of Mercy, established several schools during her lifetime, primarily in Ireland. She opened the first Mercy school in 1824 in Dublin and went on to create numerous other schools across Ireland and beyond, contributing significantly to education for girls and impoverished communities. By the time of her death in 1841, she had helped establish over 30 schools. Her legacy continues through the ongoing work of the Sisters of Mercy in education worldwide.
