Does Matilda wear glasses

In Roald Dahl's book "Matilda," the character Matilda Wormwood does not wear glasses. She is portrayed as an exceptionally intelligent young girl with a love for reading. The illustrations and adaptations of the story do not depict her wearing glasses either.
