Who wrote the little red riding hood story?

Charles Perrault wrote "Little Red Riding Hood", the original story of a little girl who meets a strange wolf in the woods, on the way to her grandmother's house, who ends up aeting bot the little girl and her grandmother, but, however, are saved by an ax-man who slices open the wolf.
