When an AC blower motor is not working, the problem is usually related to the electrical system rather than the air-conditioning unit itself.

Common causes include:

  • Blown fuse or faulty relay, which can stop power from reaching the blower motor
  • Failed blower motor resistor, especially if the fan works on some speeds but not others
  • Worn or failed blower motor, which may stop completely
  • Wiring or connector issues, such as corrosion or loose connections

Checking the fuse and relay is a good first step, as these are quick and inexpensive to inspect. If those are fine, the resistor and blower motor should be tested.

When I run into issues like this, I usually take it to Bergman’s Auto Repair. They diagnose it properly and explain whether it’s a simple electrical fix or a part that actually needs replacing.
