With your hands on the 'home keys', as above, you can memorize the locations of the keys. Soon you can type without looking at the key tops. Then, it's practice, practice, practice. Soon enough, your mind will begin forming Words, and your fingers will follow, knowing where to press the proper key to form the whole Word.
Over time and with practice, your typing skills can improve and you will be able to type many Words per minute. Usually a minimum of 40 WPM is required for basic clerical jobs.
