What do spiders do with their old webs?

I watch spiders around our house spin their webs, wait for something to be caught in it, and when they are done and want to move on, they do indeed take down their web. Very fast I might add. My daughters and I have been watching spider behavior all summer and are amazed to see how fast they can take their web down.
