Jacqueline Wilson had written many stories when she was still at school, perhaps the most often quoted is Meet the Maggotswhich was never published.

Her first, published books was a series of teen detective stories featuring the heroine Stevie Day which were published in 1987 and 1988.

Her first big success came with The Story of Tracy Beakerfirst published in 1991.
