"I dont think that conn is a good Trumpet. You should go for a bach, getzen, dynasty, or anything but king and conn. All i know is that conn is a good Trombone brand."
My two cents as a trumpet-playing band director: The older Conn and King trumpets and cornets are Excellent for beginning students. Through the years Conn has also made a few good intermediate and professional models. I would recommend a good used Conn over a brand new cheap-o brand for my own beginning students. For a "step-up" instrument, I would recommend a Bach, Yamaha, or Getzen trumpet, but these companies also make entry-level instruments.

Both King and Conn are made by the same company Selmer. In fact Selmer trade under the company names:
Yamaha are famed for their consistency of tonal quality across the register and quality control.
Bach is the top of the line for Selmer.
Conn is usually lesser quality marching band equipment.
Holton only sells professional models under Selmer.
Prelude is Bachs student low cost line
