How did Otis amber change in the westing game?

I read this book in my language arts class. It was totally and completely confusing in the beginning and I hated it because I couldn't follow along. Then it became a lot more interesting when they had everyone in the pairs and had the clues, etc. I loved this book! Otis Amber, was asked by Sam Westing to watch out for Berthe Erica Crow. Crow, was Sam Westing's ex-wife and they had gotten a divorce, I'm guessing. She was an alcoholic and had stopped and had started working at a Soup Kitchen so she wouldn't start drinking alcohol again. Sam Westing started the *Westing Game* because he wanted people to forgive him. And by people, I meant Crow. He wanted Crow to forgive him and so he had Otis Amber watch out for Crow so she wouldn't do anything bad and/or use the Westing name. Otis watched out for Crow for twenty years, so you're going to have to read the book and find out what happens between the two AND Sam Westing! [:
