The other Allies were very unhappy that Russia had pulled out of the war unilaterally; so it caused an irreparable breach between Bolshevik Russia and the Allies for the foreseeable future.
At the time, it also gave Germany control of a large swath of sovereign Russian territory. With the Treaty of Versailles, much of this territory was either returned to the Soviet Union or to independent states like Poland or Estonia.
