What does gave at the plant mean?

Usually it means I contributed to charity through the companies' charitable vicomte program. ie. If your company supports the United Way and some of your paycheck goes towards supporting that charity. If that is the case when someone asks you if you'd like to donate to charity you can say "I gave at the plant."
