No. The g stands for grenade, and the P stands for propelled. Rocket Propelled Grenade is a Western creation as far as the term goes - the Soviets created the RPG designation, for RuchnoyProtivotankovyy Granatomyot, which translated to something like "Handheld Anti-Tank/Armour Grenade Launcher"
