I don't really have any information to add to this, except to say that it is an idiotic answer. What's it supposed to mean? Perhaps a couple of minutes online might have led you to this statement, by Spike's brother Desmond:
"Spike was Terence Allen Milligan's Army nickname. "Let's face it, everyone
who joins the army gets a nickname. If you're a Welshman, you're immediately
called 'Taffy'. If you're a Mr White, you're immediately called 'Chalky'. Why they
called him Spike I have no idea, but that's how he got the name."
That took me two minutes to find out with google. What were you trying to say with your 'explanation'?
